FAQs

What does IP20 mean, and where can the Venice Sconce be installed?

IP20 means the fixture is protected against solid objects larger than 12mm but has no water resistance. It is suitable for dry interior spaces — living rooms, hallways, dining rooms — but not bathrooms or any location exposed to moisture.

Is the lamp included with the Venice Sconce?

Lamps are not confirmed as included. We recommend confirming lamp type at point of order so you have the right bulb ready for installation. Visual Comfort sconces in this range typically use a standard base lamp — we can advise on the best option for warmth and dimming compatibility.

Can the Venice Sconce be dimmed?

Dimming compatibility depends on the lamp type used and the dimmer switch installed. Once the lamp type is confirmed, we can advise on a compatible phase dimmer — the most common dimming method for decorative sconces — to ensure smooth, flicker-free control.

How far apart should multiple Venice Sconces be spaced?

For a balanced spread of light across a hallway or dining room, a minimum of 8 to 10 feet between each fixture is recommended. This avoids pooling or uneven distribution and allows each sconce to read as an individual design element.

What finishes are available for the Venice Sconce?

The Venice Sconce is available in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass and Bronze. Both work well in warm interior palettes, but they read differently against wall colour and natural light. If you would like help deciding, we are happy to advise based on your specific scheme.
