For decorative wall lights, the key decisions are usually scale, finish, and light direction. The Turlington casts light downward in a focused pool from its opaque tapered metal shade — useful for accent lighting along corridors or flanking a mirror or artwork. It is rated IP20, meaning it is suitable for dry interior spaces only, not bathrooms or humid zones. A single E-type lamp is required but not included; an LED option is available separately at point of order.

The Visual Comfort Turlington Large Sconce is part of the Turlington series, designed by Thomas O'Brien for Visual Comfort. It features a diamond-shaped backplate — a detail that immediately sets it apart from conventional circular or rectangular back plates — with a slender curved arm, brass cuff and sphere detailing, and an opaque tapered conical shade supported by angled brass wires. The construction is entirely metal, and the two-toned finish combines matte bronze with hand-rubbed antique brass accents for a high-contrast, refined aesthetic.

The Turlington series is available in three finishes: Polished Nickel, Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass, and Bronze with Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass. Each finish reads differently in space — the Polished Nickel leans contemporary, the all-brass option warmer and more traditional, while the bronze and brass combination offers a sophisticated, high-contrast character well suited to layered, curated interiors.

This fitting is rated IP20 and is intended for dry interior use only. One lamp is required and not included; an LED bulb can be added at the time of ordering. When specifying multiples — for example along a hallway or either side of a fireplace — allow a minimum of 8 to 10 feet between each fixture for a balanced spread of light. The diamond backplate conceals the wall electrical connection. A 1-year manufacturer warranty is included.
