STORY
STORY
Choosing a ceiling light for a living room, bedroom, or hallway often comes down to one problem: how do you get genuine visual impact without hanging a pendant that dominates the room or conflicts with low ceiling heights? The flush mount category is full of forgettable discs — but it doesn't have to be.
For spaces where ceiling clearance matters, a surface-mounted fixture needs to do two things well: sit close to the ceiling without looking like an afterthought, and cast light in a way that adds atmosphere rather than just illumination. The best decorative flush mounts become focal points in their own right, using form and material to shape the mood of the room.
The Visual Comfort Strada Flush Mount Ceiling Light, designed by Kelly Wearstler, does exactly that. A dense array of slender metallic quills radiates from a central hub in a starburst form, referencing organic structure through a sharp, industrial medium. Multiple bulbs are nestled deep within the quill arrangement, fragmenting light as it passes through and casting a striated glow across the ceiling and surrounding walls. The result is layered ambience from a fixture that sits flush against the surface.
The Strada range by Kelly Wearstler spans flush mounts, chandeliers, and sconces — all built around the same radiating quill aesthetic that balances dynamic sculptural energy with a compact, refined profile. This flush mount is available in two finishes: Gild and Aged Iron, allowing the piece to anchor a warm, gilded interior or complement a cooler, industrial-leaning scheme.
The fixture is rated IP20, making it suitable for standard interior dry locations — ideal for bedrooms, living rooms, hallways, home offices, dining rooms, kitchens, and conservatories. Lamps are not included; confirm compatible bulb types and wattage before ordering. The fixture mounts to a standard ceiling junction box. As with all decorative pieces at this level, it is worth confirming ceiling rose dimensions and junction box positioning before installation.
At Lightsource Studio, the Strada is part of a curated portfolio of design-forward fixtures selected for projects where specification rigour and design intent need to coexist. We help you confirm the right finish, the right scale, and the right installation approach before anything ships — so your project stays on track from first fix to final fit-out.
