Visual Comfort Span Linear Wall Light

One of the most common mistakes with linear wall lights is treating them as purely decorative afterthoughts. Get the placement or light quality wrong and you end up with harsh, unflattering light — particularly in vanity or hallway settings where the quality of illumination really matters.

For wall-mounted linear fixtures, two things tend to define the result: how light is distributed through the diffuser, and the colour rendering index (CRI) — a measure of how accurately a light source reveals the true colours of surfaces and skin tones. A CRI of 90 or above is considered high fidelity, meaning colours look natural and true rather than washed out.

The Visual Comfort Span Linear Wall Light, designed by Sean Lavin, addresses both. Its integrated light source sits within a slim horizontal bar, distributing illumination evenly through a finely ribbed or micro-lined translucent diffuser. That textured panel softens the output and creates a quiet visual rhythm when the fitting is active — controlled, not harsh. With a CRI of 90, it delivers genuinely high-quality light suited to vanity mirrors, bathroom walls, hallways, and architectural accent positions. IP20 rated, it is appropriate for dry interior zones.

The design language is minimal and considered — a stark contrast between the central rectangular mounting plate and the light bar that extends beyond it horizontally. That extended reach gives the Span its strong graphic presence on the wall without visual bulk. It is available in two finishes: Nightshade Black and Plated Brass, offering a choice between a sharp, contemporary matte statement and a warmer, elevated tone.

The Span is rated IP20, meaning it is suitable for dry interior spaces only — not for use in bathrooms zones 0, 1, or 2 where splashproof or waterproof ratings are required. Specific driver, lamp, and dimming information should be confirmed at specification stage; our team can advise on compatible control options and installation requirements for your project.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we work through specification decisions like this one carefully — making sure the fitting you choose performs in the real world, not just on a mood board. The Span sits within a curated portfolio of design-led fixtures selected for their technical credibility and design intent. We can advise on finish selection, installation constraints, and compatible control systems to keep your project on track and on time.
