Visual Comfort Rousseau Single Sconce

Decorative wall lighting decisions often come down to more than style — the wrong scale, finish, or diffuser choice can undermine a carefully considered scheme. With a sconce like this, the details matter: the curve of the arm, the quality of the finish, the way the shade handles the light source beneath it.

For interior wall lighting, the key considerations are diffuser type (how well it conceals the lamp and softens the output), finish durability and character, and IP rating for the intended environment. IP22 means the fitting is rated for protection against finger contact and dripping water — suitable for general interior use, including most living spaces and bedrooms, but not bathrooms.

The Visual Comfort Rousseau Single Sconce is a single-arm wall sconce designed by Kelly Wearstler as part of the Visual Comfort Signature Collection. It features a fluid J-curve tubular arm rising from a circular wall backplate, topped with a tall, slender frosted cylindrical diffuser that conceals the light source and distributes a soft, ambient glow. Wiring is routed internally through the arm and concealed behind the mounting plate for a clean finish. Rated IP22, it is suited to general interior environments.

The Rousseau's elongated silhouette and wand-like proportions give it a strong vertical presence without demanding significant wall space — a considered balance of scale and restraint. It is available in three hand-applied finishes: Antique-Burnished Brass, Bronze, and Polished Nickel, each carrying the character and depth associated with the Visual Comfort Signature Collection's living finish approach.
