For flush-mounted ceiling lights, what matters most is how form, light diffusion, and finish work together in the room. The glass type determines how the light feels: opaque white glass softens the output of the internal bulbs, spreading warmth evenly across the space rather than creating harsh points of glare. The Visual Comfort Rachel Small Flush Mount, designed by Alexa Hampton, addresses exactly this balance. A shallow, rounded white glass dome sits within a decorative metal frame featuring a scalloped, petal-like edge — a detail that contrasts the clean simplicity of the glass with a distinctly ornate border. It mounts directly against the ceiling surface, making it well suited to bedrooms, bathrooms (IP20 — suitable for Zone 3 and general areas outside wet zones), hallways, and living rooms where ceiling height is a consideration.

The Rachel is available in three finishes: Gun Metal, Natural Brass, and Polished Nickel — each shifting the character of the fitting considerably, from moody and architectural to warm and traditional to crisp and transitional. The size offered is Small, with a 34.3cm width and 10.8cm height — proportioned for standard residential rooms.

The fitting accepts two E14 candelabra-base lamps (the small screw-cap bulb format common in decorative fittings), rated up to 60W each. Lamps are not included. IP20 rated — appropriate for general indoor use; not suitable for direct water-contact zones in bathrooms. Weight is 3.6kg, so confirm your ceiling backplate and junction box can accommodate this before installation.
