Choosing a statement chandelier for a principal interior is one of the most visible specification decisions on any project. The risk is simple: a fitting that photographs beautifully but fails to deliver the right scale, warmth, or material quality in the room. Natural stone shades in particular vary between units — and that variability needs to be understood before it becomes a surprise on site.

Alabaster — a naturally occurring mineral stone — is semi-translucent, meaning it transmits light softly rather than reflecting it. Each shade will carry its own subtle veining and tonal variation. The Visual Comfort Pedra Large Two-Tier Chandelier, designed by Kelly Wearstler, delivers exactly this. Six light points are arranged across two tiers of sweeping U-shaped metal arms and the central vertical stem, topped with domed alabaster shades that diffuse light into a gentle, even ambience. The structural combination of a rigid central rod and adjustable chain suspension allows the drop height to be tailored to the ceiling condition on site.

The design balances a minimalist linear framework with large-scale rounded arms — a juxtaposition that reads as both architectural and warm. The Pedra is available in Antique-Burnished Brass, Bronze, and Polished Nickel, allowing the metal tone to be matched to the broader material palette of the space. Alabaster shades will show natural variation in colour and texture between units, as is expected and characteristic of the stone.

The Pedra carries an IP20 rating, suitable for dry interior environments. Lamp type and driver requirements should be confirmed at specification stage — this is a lamped fixture and the light source is not integrated. Ceiling height and structural fixing point should be assessed prior to installation given the scale and weight of the fitting. Chain suspension allows for drop adjustment.
