Visual Comfort Otto Flush Mount

Choosing a flush mount for a principal living space often means settling — for something flat, forgettable, or simply wrong for the room. The Otto is the exception: a ceiling light that holds its own as a sculptural object, even before it's switched on.

In a flush mount, the shade material defines everything. Where frosted glass softens light mechanically, alabaster does it naturally — the stone's density and translucency work together to diffuse the LED source, eliminate glare, and cast a warm peripheral glow through the stone walls. Because it is a natural material, no two pieces are identical; veining, tone, and texture will vary from piece to piece, which is exactly the point.

The Visual Comfort Otto Medium Flush Mount is designed by Kelly Wearstler and built around a thick-cut alabaster drum with a concave, ridged interior that focuses light downward while allowing it to bleed through the stone. The metal mounting ring — available in Polished Nickel, Bronze, or Antique-Burnished Brass — provides a slim, refined contrast to the weight of the stone. The integrated 30W LED source delivers 2,400 lumens of diffused ambient illumination. IP20 rated, this fixture is suited to dry interior spaces: bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms.

At 30.5cm wide and 12.7cm in height, the Otto sits close to the ceiling without feeling compressed. Its proportions are considered — substantial enough to anchor a room, restrained enough not to dominate it. The three available metal finishes — Polished Nickel, Bronze, and Antique-Burnished Brass — each read differently against the natural stone, from cool and crisp to warm and patinated. Note that alabaster is a natural stone; colour and texture variation between units is expected and inherent to the material.

The fixture uses a dedicated LED light source (not a replaceable lamp) and is rated IP20 — suitable for standard dry interiors only. At 7.7kg, ceiling structure and junction box load capacity should be confirmed before installation. The canopy measures 29.2cm round. A 1-year manufacturer warranty applies.
