The Visual Comfort Melange Small Flush Mount, designed by Kelly Wearstler, addresses exactly this. A carved alabaster disk is held within a split metal frame — two arc-shaped panels that wrap and grip the stone, creating an architectural profile distinct from standard circular flush mounts. Light passes both through the translucent alabaster and through the open sides of the metalwork, layering warmth and ambience across the ceiling and walls. The fixture is rated IP20, making it suitable for dry interior spaces.
The Melange series balances organic material with refined metalwork — a deliberate juxtaposition of natural texture and industrial precision. Because alabaster is a natural stone, no two diffusers are identical; veining, tone, and translucency vary from piece to piece, giving each unit a collectible, one-of-a-kind character. The Small flush mount measures 115 × 356 mm and is available in three finishes: Polished Nickel, Bronze, and Antique-Burnished Brass. The range also extends to Large and Extra-Large sizes for greater ceiling spans.
