Visual Comfort Liaison Large Bracketed Wall Sconce

Choosing an exterior wall sconce that works as hard aesthetically as it does practically is harder than it looks. Too often, outdoor lighting either lacks design integrity or cuts corners on weather protection — leaving you with a fixture that disappoints on installation day.

For outdoor and bathroom-adjacent wall sconces, IP rating is one of the first things to confirm. IP44 means the fixture is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashing from any direction — suitable for covered exterior walls, entrance zones, and bathroom mirror positions outside Zone 1. The E14 candelabra socket accepts standard small-base bulbs, giving you flexibility over light output and colour temperature once installed.

The Visual Comfort Liaison Large Bracketed Wall Sconce, designed by Kelly Wearstler, answers both demands. Its IP44 Class I rating makes it a confident choice for sheltered exterior walls, and its tall cylindrical fractured-glass shade — held between metal rings on twin L-shaped bracket arms — creates genuine visual presence. The textured, crackle-effect glass diffuses light through a complex web-like pattern, softening the output while retaining warmth and clarity.

The Liaison series contrasts rigid architectural metal lines with the organic, almost shattered appearance of its glass shade — a deliberate tension that gives the range its character. The long rectangular backplate (8.9cm × 50.8cm) anchors the assembly cleanly to the wall, creating visual separation and a sense of depth between the light source and the mounting surface. The sconce is available in Bronze and Antique-Burnished Brass, allowing it to read either cooler and contemporary or warmer and antique-influenced depending on your scheme.

The fixture is E14 candelabra lamped and is not supplied with a bulb — you'll need a small-base E14 lamp rated up to 60W (or an LED equivalent, which we'd recommend for longevity and heat management). Note that installation requires a smaller outlet box than standard; worth flagging to your electrician ahead of time. Total height is 50.8cm with a 20.3cm extension from wall to front of shade, and a weight of 4.5kg — confirm your fixing surface and wall anchor specification accordingly.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we work through the specification details before anything is ordered — lamp compatibility, mounting constraints, finish coordination across a scheme — so that what arrives on site matches what was planned. The Liaison sconce sits within a thoughtfully curated portfolio of design-led exterior and interior lighting, and we're here to make sure it lands in the right project, in the right finish, without surprises.
