One of the most common frustrations in interior lighting is wanting a lamp exactly where there's no socket — beside a reading chair, on a console without trunking, or on a terrace table just inside the covered loggia. Hard-wiring is overkill. Extension cables are a compromise. A cordless lamp that actually looks considered is the answer.

Cordless table lamps work via an integrated rechargeable LED light source — a battery built into the base that you charge up and then place wherever the composition needs it. The key questions are run time, recharge method, and whether the lamp reads as a proper decorative piece rather than something from a camping catalogue. The Josy answers all three comfortably.

The Visual Comfort Josy Cordless Table Lamp is designed by Thomas O'Brien as part of Visual Comfort's Signature Collection. Standing at approximately 43 cm (17 inches), it pairs a hand-finished reactive ceramic base with a classic tapered empire shade and a brushed brass collar transition. A rechargeable LED light source and charging cable are included. The IP22 rating confirms it's suitable for dry interior environments — protected against direct finger contact and light dripping, but not outdoor use.

What makes each Josy lamp genuinely one-of-a-kind is the reactive ceramic glaze process. The glaze interacts unpredictably with heat during firing, producing mottled, granular surface textures and earthy tonal depth that no two bases share exactly. The off-white empire shade keeps the palette grounded and versatile. The lamp is available in four glaze colourways: Positano Sand, Silk Blue, Silk Green, and Venerian White — each with its own character.

No driver, no hardwiring, no electrician required. The rechargeable LED light source is integrated and included, along with the charging cable. Given the IP22 rating, keep placement to dry indoor zones — bedside tables, console tables, bookshelves, or living room side tables are all ideal. It is not rated for bathrooms or outdoor use.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we work with products like the Josy because they solve real placement problems without asking you to compromise on design. Whether you're specifying a villa bedroom, a boutique hotel suite, or a living room that needs flexible lighting without disruptive installation work, this lamp earns its place in the brief. We're here to help you confirm it's the right fit — finish, scale, and function — before it lands on site.

FAQs

Does the Josy table lamp need to be plugged in to work?

No. It runs from an integrated rechargeable LED light source — charge it up using the included cable, then place it wherever you need it, no socket required.

Is the LED light source replaceable?

The LED is integrated into the base and charged rather than replaced. A charging cable is included in the box.

Will my lamp look exactly like the one in the photos?

Very likely similar, but not identical — and that's intentional. The reactive ceramic glaze process means every base fires slightly differently, producing unique variation in colour tone and surface texture. It's a feature, not a flaw.

Can I use the Josy lamp in a bathroom or on a covered terrace?

No. The Josy carries an IP22 rating, which means it's protected against direct finger contact and light dripping, but it's designed for dry interior use only. Bathrooms and outdoor areas require a higher IP rating.

What finish options are available?

The Josy is available in four reactive ceramic glaze colourways: Positano Sand, Silk Blue, Silk Green, and Venerian White. Each has a distinct character due to the nature of the glaze firing process.
