Visual Comfort Greer Adjustable Bridge Floor Lamp

Positioning a floor lamp for task lighting without it dominating the room is a challenge most designers will recognise. Too far and it underperforms; too close and the structure crowds the space. A bridge-style arm solves this by cantilevering the light source horizontally away from the upright — but the frame design determines whether it reads as furniture-quality or an afterthought.

For a floor lamp to work in a designed interior, the structure needs to hold its own visually while the shade does the lighting work. Bridge lamps rely on a counterbalanced arm extending from a weighted base, and the quality of the joinery — particularly the adjustment collar on the vertical post — determines both the lamp's longevity and its visual refinement. The shade material and proportion matter too: a drum shade in a warm fabric diffuses light softly, making it suitable for reading corners, beside a sofa, or anchoring a seating arrangement.

The Visual Comfort Greer Adjustable Bridge Floor Lamp is designed by Suzanne Kasler as part of the Visual Comfort Signature Collection. It features a slender, square-profile metal frame with a cantilevered bridge arm and a weighted square pedestal base. The adjustable collar on the vertical post allows the arm height and orientation to be repositioned as needed. A drum-shaped fabric shade in a cream or off-white tone is mounted at the end of the arm, secured with a dark finial. IP20 rated, this lamp is suited to interior use in dry residential and hospitality environments.

The Greer's distinguishing character lies in the contrast between its architectural, geometric metal frame and the softer, more traditional fabric drum shade — a pairing that works across a wide range of interior styles from transitional to contemporary classic. It is available in two finishes: Bronze and Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass, offering a choice between a deeper, more shadowed tone and a warmer, tactile antique character.

The lamp is intended for interior use (IP20 — rated for dry indoor environments only). A power cord extends from the base for direct plug-in connection. Confirm lamp type and wattage compatibility with your chosen bulb before ordering; lamps are not included. As with all Visual Comfort Signature Collection pieces, hand-applied living finishes mean each lamp carries subtle individual character — a natural result of the craftsmanship process rather than a defect.
