Choosing a linear pendant for a dining table or kitchen island sounds straightforward — until you realise the colour temperature is fixed and the light ages differently to everything else in the room. Getting that decision wrong at installation means living with it.

Selectable colour temperature (CCT) solves this cleanly. CCT refers to the warmth or coolness of white light: 2700K is a warm, intimate tone; 3000K is slightly crisper and better for task-heavy spaces. Having both on one fitting — switchable before or at installation — gives you flexibility without specifying two separate products. Alongside this, a CRI (Colour Rendering Index) of 90 means colours in the space read accurately and naturally under the light, which matters particularly for high-finish interiors.

The Visual Comfort Dessau 48 Linear Suspension, designed by Sean Lavin, delivers exactly this. The integrated LED bar offers selectable 2700K and 3000K colour temperatures and a 90 CRI output, all within an ultra-slim metal housing that disappears into the ceiling plane rather than competing with it. The fixture is rated for 120V supply.

Visually, the Dessau 48 is defined by restraint. A long, narrow horizontal bar — devoid of visible fasteners — is suspended on fine twin cables from a low-profile rectangular canopy. Every surface is finished in a uniform matte nightshade black. The result is a floating, architectural line of light rather than a conventional pendant. It is available in nightshade black finish.

The Dessau 48 uses an integrated LED light source — no separate lamp to source or replace. The fixture is designed for 120V installations; please confirm supply voltage compatibility for your project before ordering. Cable length is adjustable at installation to suit ceiling height. As with all Visual Comfort integrated LED products, we recommend confirming dimmer compatibility with us before specifying, as not all phase-cut dimmers (the type that controls power to the fixture to vary brightness) work reliably with integrated LED drivers.
