Natural alabaster is semi-translucent, which means the light source is concealed behind the stone rather than exposed. The Visual Comfort Covet Double Box Sconce is designed by Kelly Wearstler as part of the Covet series — a collection that brings jewellery-making craft to architectural lighting. Two carved alabaster panels extend vertically from a central metal housing, held in place by integrated side prongs in a nod to gemstone setting. The result is a fixture that is at once minimal and tactile: a slim, vertical form with the organic character of natural stone. Because alabaster is quarried rather than manufactured, no two sconces are visually identical — variations in colour and veining are inherent to the material and part of its appeal.
The sconce measures 66cm in height, 10.8cm wide, and extends 10.2cm from the wall. The rectangular backplate (10.8cm × 16.5cm) keeps the wall footprint neat. It is available in three metal finishes: Antique-Burnished Brass, Polished Nickel, and Bronze — each shifting the character of the piece from warm and antique to cool and contemporary.
The fixture is rated IP20, making it suitable for dry interior spaces. It is not rated for use in wet zones (bathroom zone 1 or 2). The integrated dedicated LED source runs at 19W (1,800lm) — no separate lamp or driver is required. At 5.9kg, wall fixings should be specified accordingly; confirm stud or masonry anchor points before installation. Where multiple sconces are used along a hallway or living space, allow a minimum of 240–300cm between fixtures for a balanced distribution of light.
