STORY
STORY
Choosing a decorative wall light that holds its own as a design statement — without complicating the electrical fit-out — is harder than it looks. The wrong finish clashes, the wrong form overwhelms, and the wrong lamp choice kills the atmosphere before anyone sits down.
For accent and ambient wall lighting, what matters most is the quality of light the fitting produces and how it interacts with the space: the shade material, the lamp type, and the mounting footprint. A seeded glass globe diffuses the light source while preserving visibility of the filament, creating layered warmth rather than a flat glow. The open base aperture directs light downward, adding a soft pool beneath the fitting.
The Visual Comfort Clara Wall Light, designed by Sean Lavin, answers that brief precisely. A spherical seeded glass globe — its surface alive with fine air bubbles — sits at the end of a gooseneck-style curved arm, held in place by a hardware-detail bracket with thumb-screw fixings. The circular backplate mounts flush to the wall, keeping the silhouette clean and the electrical connections concealed. It is rated IP20, making it suitable for dry interior spaces including living rooms, hallways, and bedrooms.
The Clara reads as transitional in character — the brushed metal arm and bracket carry an industrial edge, while the globe form and warm finish family anchor it to something more considered and domestic. It is available in three finishes: Chrome, Burnished Brass, and Polished Nickel, each offering a distinct tonal quality from cool and crisp to warm and aged.
The Clara is designed for use with an Edison-style filament lamp (not included). As an IP20-rated fitting, it is suitable for Zone 3 and general interior use only — not for installation within bathroom wet zones. Confirm lamp base type and wattage with your electrical specification before ordering.
At Lightsource Studio, we work with Visual Comfort because their ranges are designed to be specified — not just admired. The Clara is a well-resolved piece from a designer with a strong portfolio, and it ships in a small variant set that makes finish decisions straightforward. We'll help you match it to your project palette, confirm lamp compatibility, and coordinate delivery around your programme.
