FAQs

Does the Chalmette sconce emit light in both directions?

Yes. The fixture uses two lamps to direct light both upward and downward, creating a soft wall wash above and below the fitting — ideal for corridors, living areas, and beside mirrors.

Are lamps included with the Chalmette sconce?

No, lamps are not included. You will need to source two compatible lamps separately. Contact Lightsource Studio if you need guidance on the correct lamp type and wattage for your dimming setup.

What is the IP20 rating and where can this sconce be installed?

IP20 means the fixture is protected against solid objects larger than 12.5 mm but has no water resistance. It is suitable for dry interior spaces only — not bathrooms, wet zones, or outdoor areas.

What finishes are available for the Chalmette sconce?

The Chalmette is available in three finishes: Aged Iron, Plaster White and Gild, and Plaster White. Each is hand-applied, meaning subtle tonal variation is a natural and intentional characteristic of the finish.

How far apart should multiple Chalmette sconces be spaced?

Visual Comfort recommends leaving a minimum of approximately 240–300 cm (8–10 feet) between sconces when installing multiples in a hallway or living space, to achieve a balanced spread of light without crowding.
