Visual Comfort Catena 241 Chandelier

Choosing a statement chandelier for a large living room, dining space, or open-plan kitchen is rarely straightforward. The risk isn't just aesthetic — it's spatial. A piece this architectural needs to work at the right scale, hang at the right height, and deliver light quality that matches the ambience you're after. Get any of those wrong and even the most beautiful fixture becomes a problem.

For sculptural pendants with integrated LED sources, the key decisions come down to colour temperature (the warmth or coolness of the light), CRI (Colour Rendering Index — how accurately the light reveals colours and materials), and the fixture's physical drape relative to ceiling height and room width. Unlike lamped fittings, integrated LED means the light source is built in, so these choices are made at specification stage, not later.

The Visual Comfort Catena 241 Chandelier, designed by Sean Lavin for the Visual Comfort Signature Collection, answers those challenges directly. It functions as a modular catenary system — a flexible chain of interconnected rectangular metal segments that suspends in a deep curve between two ceiling canopies. Integrated LED is embedded along each link, with a CRI of 90, meaning colours, fabrics, and finishes read true. Available in 2700K and 3000K colour temperatures, it suits everything from warm, intimate dining rooms to cleaner, contemporary kitchen and living room schemes. IP20 rated, it is designed for interior dry zones.

Visually, the Catena reads like an oversized architectural jewellery chain — part sculptural installation, part lighting instrument. The segmented geometry creates a rhythmic, animated quality when illuminated, and the adjustable drape means the installation can be tailored to the proportions of the space. It is available in Bronze, Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass, and Polished Nickel, each finished by hand to the standard the Signature Collection is known for.

As an integrated LED fitting, no separate lamp purchase is required, but electrical connection is made at the two ceiling canopies — your electrician will need to confirm ceiling structure and spacing at installation. Colour temperature and finish are selected at order stage, so it is worth confirming your scheme before committing. The fixture is IP20 rated, suitable for dry interior environments only.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we work with designers, architects, and self-builders to make sure specification decisions like these are right before anything is ordered. The Catena 241 is a considered choice for projects where lighting needs to perform as sculpture — and we can help confirm it fits your ceiling height, room proportions, and wider scheme. Right product, right spec, delivered on time.
