STORY
STORY
Choosing a statement chandelier is one of the decisions where getting it wrong is most visible. The risk isn't just aesthetic — it's scale, light quality, and whether the piece works as hard as it looks. A fitting with CRI 90 (a measure of how accurately it renders colour, on a scale of 0–100) makes a real difference in living rooms, dining spaces, and hospitality environments where natural-looking light matters.
For decorative chandeliers, what often gets overlooked is the quality of diffusion — how the light source itself appears when lit. Harsh, visible bulbs undermine even the most considered interior. The Calumn's horizontal cylindrical diffusers, likely opal glass or acrylic, scatter light softly across the room while keeping the fixture's graphic lines clean. That combination of ambient warmth and architectural clarity is harder to achieve than it looks.
The Visual Comfort Calumn 6-Light Chandelier, designed by Sean Lavin, answers both challenges directly. Three nested metal arches of varying heights and widths — finished in matte black — are arranged in a tiered, perpendicular configuration that reads as sculptural from every angle. Each arch terminus holds a horizontal tube light, creating six points of illumination with a distinctive 'T'-junction silhouette. The result is a volumetric presence that remains open and airy rather than heavy.
The design sits firmly in the graphic, linear tradition: minimal ornament, maximum geometry. The matte black metalwork and white cylindrical diffusers are connected by black ring collars that keep transitions seamless. Available in two variants — check with us for current finish and configuration options.
No driver or lamp data has been provided for this fixture. Before specifying, confirm lamp type, wattage, and dimming compatibility with our team to avoid surprises on install day. The Calumn carries a 1-year manufacturer warranty, and no IP rating is specified, so it is intended for dry interior use only.
At Lightsource Studio, we don't just source; we specify. The Calumn is the kind of piece that earns its place in a curated interior — and our role is to make sure it arrives correctly specified, on time, and ready to install without last-minute questions. We handle the technical groundwork so your project stays on schedule.
