The Visual Comfort Basden Tail Sconce is a hardwired decorative wall light designed by Chapman & Myers. Its defining feature is an elongated vertical rod — the "tail" — partially wrapped in natural rattan with visible horizontal banding, extending both above and below the horizontal mounting arm. A rectangular backplate with a stepped, inset decorative frame mounts flush to the wall over a standard electrical junction box. A white fabric shade in a tapered drum silhouette sits at the top of the assembly, providing soft, diffused ambient light.

The design plays on material contrast: the organic warmth of natural woven rattan against antique-burnished brass metalwork. The result is a transitional aesthetic that sits comfortably between coastal and classic interiors — the kind of piece that works in a Spanish villa as readily as a London townhouse. Because rattan is a natural material, subtle variation in colour tone between units is expected and part of the character.
