The Avenir asks you to consider all three before it goes up.

For a fixture of this scale and character, the key decisions are ceiling height, chain drop, and lamp choice. The suspension system is adjustable during installation, which gives you control over final hung height — critical in rooms where clearance matters. The open-frame design means light distributes in all directions, so beam angle isn't a constraint here; what you're shaping is mood and warmth, not task illumination.

The Visual Comfort Avenir Chandelier, designed by Sean Lavin, is a twelve-light, ceiling-hung fixture built around a large circular 'wagon wheel' frame in metal with a hand-applied wood-grain finish that replicates the texture and tonal variation of weathered timber. Dark metal hardware — including sockets, support chains, and ceiling canopy — provides structural contrast and ties the piece to an industrial-farmhouse aesthetic. It is rated IP20, making it suitable for dry interior spaces such as dining rooms, open living areas, and double-height entryways.

The Avenir's design blends rustic and industrial references — the multi-tonal brown ring against dark matte metal creates a layered, tactile quality that reads differently at different distances. Twelve upward-facing sockets are mounted equidistantly around the ring and are shown with clear teardrop Edison-style bulbs with visible vertical filaments, reinforcing the vintage character. A four-point chain suspension creates a geometric, conical silhouette above the circular base — visually anchoring the fixture rather than simply hanging it.

The fixture is suspended via a central main chain connecting to four secondary chains anchored to the interior of the ring, with a circular ceiling canopy providing the electrical connection point. Lamps are not included and should be specified separately — teardrop or globe-style filament bulbs, LED or otherwise, suit the aesthetic intent. As an IP20-rated fixture, installation is limited to dry interior zones. Confirm ceiling height and structural fixing capacity before specifying for larger spans.
