For flush-mount and semi-flush fittings, the key variables are shade treatment, lamp type, and ceiling clearance. Here the shade is clear fluted glass — the vertical ribbing refracts light and adds visual texture, but it does not diffuse the bulb glow. That means the bulbs themselves are part of the aesthetic statement, so lamp choice matters: candelabra-style bulbs (small Edison-screw or similar decorative sources) are essential to maintain the intended look. A rated IP22 — this means the fitting has basic protection against vertically dripping water, suitable for most dry interior rooms but not bathrooms or wet zones.

The Visual Comfort Asalea Solitaire Flush Mount is designed by Aerin Lauder as part of the Visual Comfort Signature Collection. Three internal vertical stems hold candelabra-style bulbs beneath a single prominent bell-shaped fluted glass shade — the 'solitaire' concept that makes the glass the centrepiece. The tiered metal canopy connects neatly to the ceiling surface, keeping the profile low and the silhouette refined.

The Asalea is available in two finishes: Polished Nickel and Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass. Both are hand-applied living finishes, meaning each piece carries its own subtle character. The stepped metal canopy and warm glass combination gives the fitting a transitional quality — at home in a contemporary interior as much as a more classic or coastal setting.

Lamps are not included and must be sourced separately — candelabra-base decorative bulbs are required to suit the three internal sockets. There is no integrated LED module. Driver or transformer requirements depend on the lamp specification chosen. The IP22 rating confirms this fitting is for dry interior use only; it is not suitable for bathrooms, terraces, or any zones exposed to moisture. No additional driver or transformer is required for standard mains voltage installations.
