STORY
STORY
Task lighting sounds simple until you're standing in a half-furnished room wondering why the light never quite reaches where it's needed. A fixed floor lamp looks right but misses the mark; a poorly designed articulating one droops, rattles, or just feels cheap. Getting it right matters — especially when the lamp is also a design statement.
For directed ambient and task light, what counts is arm reach, pivot quality, and shade geometry. An articulating arm uses mechanical joints to let you reposition the light source without moving the base — useful over a reading chair, a side table, or a workspace. Shade form determines whether light pools tightly or spills softly; a semi-hemispherical dome directs downward while containing glare.
The Stilnovo Topo Floor Lamp, designed by Joe Colombo, delivers exactly that. Two mechanical pivot joints — with visible, considered circular housings — allow independent height and reach adjustment, while the dome shade keeps light focused and controlled. A small grip handle at the top of the shade makes repositioning easy without touching a hot surface. IP20 rated, this lamp is suited to dry interior environments.
The Topo's silhouette is unmistakable: a slender black upright rising from a weighty circular base, cantilevering a boldly coloured articulating arm and matching dome shade. The bi-tonal contrast between the matte-black base and upright and the finish on the arm and shade gives it graphic weight without visual bulk. It is available in Green, Glossy Black, Red, White, and Chrome — each finish shifting the lamp's character from industrial accent to mid-century statement.
The Topo is a plug-in floor lamp with a cord exiting the base — no hardwiring required. As an IP20 product, it is intended for indoor use in dry locations only. Please confirm lamp compatibility and wattage requirements with us at point of specification; bulb type and inclusion should be verified before ordering.
At Lightsource Studio, we help you match the right product to the right space — not just by look, but by how it performs and installs. The Topo is a considered specification choice: a design-led piece with genuine functional credentials, curated as part of a portfolio built for architects, interior designers, and self-builders who need both the vision and the detail to land correctly.
