Open-frame lantern designs are particularly effective because they cast light in multiple directions, creating layered ambience rather than a single bright point. The trade-off is that the structure itself is always visible, so craftsmanship matters.

The Quintiesse Thayer is a two-light decorative wall sconce from the Thayer collection. It takes the classic four-sided lantern form and refines it with gracefully curved upper and lower rails — softening what could otherwise be a rigid geometric silhouette. The open metal framework features a deliberately notched and hammered surface texture, and decorative ball finials sit at the top and bottom junctions of the vertical posts, reinforcing the antique character. The result is a fixture that reads as historically informed without feeling heavy.

The Thayer is finished throughout in Antique Gild — a high-contrast, aged patina that simulates the depth of historical gilding, applied to both the open frame and the flat rectangular backplate. Two ivory candle tubes are mounted on horizontal arms extending from the backplate, each fitted with a flame-tipped torpedo-style bulb position, delivering warm, directional ambience suited to bedrooms, hallways, and feature walls. Dimensions are 361mm high, 252mm wide, and 178mm in projection.

The Thayer is designed for hardwired wall installation via the central backplate. It is a lamped fitting — bulb type should be confirmed at point of order to ensure dimmer and lamp compatibility. No driver is required. As an interior decorative fitting, no IP rating applies, making it suitable for dry zones only.
