Decorative wall lighting decisions often come down to one question: does it look as good installed as it does in the photograph? The Nula manages this well — its drama comes from contrast and material detail that holds up at close range, not just at a distance.

For a decorative sconce like this, the practical questions are straightforward but worth confirming early: what lamp type does it take, is it dimmable, and what controls are needed? The Nula accepts an E14 lamp — a small Edison screw fitting — with a maximum wattage of 40W. LED equivalents work well here; a golf ball-style bulb is recommended to sit neatly within the shade. Dimming is supported when used with a compatible dimmer switch, which is sourced separately.

The Quintiesse Nula is a single-light decorative wall sconce from the Nula range, designed in the eclectic, considered aesthetic that Quintiesse is known for. Its defining feature is the interplay between a matte Shell White exterior dome shade and a textured, metallic Luxe Gold interior that reflects warm light downward. A braided gold textile cord traces a graceful arc from a rectangular matte black backplate to the shade — functioning as both a structural component and a deliberate design gesture. The result sits somewhere between industrial rigour and organic warmth.

The design blends a rigid black arm and vertical backplate with a soft bell-shaped dome shade — a juxtaposition that feels simultaneously modern and vintage. The gold cord is fixed in length, which gives the piece its characteristic looped silhouette; this is worth bearing in mind when planning placement.

Installation is surface-mounted directly to the wall. The lamp and dimmer switch are not included and should be sourced separately. A golf ball-style E14 bulb is recommended for best fit within the shade. The cord length is fixed and cannot be adjusted.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we help you get decisions like this right before installation day — not after. The Nula is the kind of piece that rewards thoughtful placement, and we can help you confirm lamp choice, dimmer compatibility, and positioning as part of the specification process. It comes backed by a 2-year warranty, and we manage lead times and delivery so the project stays on track.

Quintiesse Lighting

Belgian Lighting

Quintiesse is a Belgian lighting brand with a reputation for decorative fixtures that sit confidently between the contemporary and the classic. Their ranges tend to favour strong material contrasts, considered proportions, and finishes that hold their character over time. The Nula collection reflects this well purposeful in construction, distinctive without being loud. For specification-led projects where decorative lighting needs to contribute to a scheme rather than simply occupy a wall, Quintiesse offers a reliable point of difference.

FAQs

What lamp does the Quintiesse Nula take?

The Nula takes a single E14 lamp — a small Edison screw fitting — with a maximum wattage of 40W. An LED equivalent is recommended for efficiency. A golf ball-style bulb is advised for best fit within the shade. The lamp is not included.

Is the Nula wall light dimmable?

Yes, the Nula is dimmable when used with a compatible dimmer switch. The dimmer switch is not included and needs to be sourced separately. If you need guidance on suitable dimmers for E14 LED lamps, we can advise.

Is the gold cord adjustable?

No — the braided gold cord is a fixed length. This gives the fixture its distinctive arched loop and hanging position for the shade. It cannot be lengthened or shortened, so it is worth confirming your wall height and intended placement before ordering.

How is the Nula installed?

The Nula is a surface-mounted wall sconce. The rectangular backplate fixes directly onto the wall surface. No in-wall recess is required, but you will need a suitable wall electrical connection point behind or near the backplate.

Is the Nula suitable for bathroom use?

No IP rating is specified for the Nula, which means it is intended for dry interior use only. It should not be installed in bathrooms or other wet or damp environments without first confirming suitability with a qualified electrician.
