Choosing a decorative pendant is rarely just about looks. The challenge is finding something that holds its own as a sculptural object when unlit, delivers the right ambient quality when switched on, and doesn't feel like a compromise in either direction. That balance is harder to strike than it sounds.

For pendant lighting, the shade material and construction determine everything: how light spills, what shadows form, and how the piece reads in the room. An open-weave structure — one where the shade itself is a lattice rather than a solid form — allows light to filter outward in multiple directions, casting layered, patterned shadows across walls and ceilings and contributing to overall room ambience rather than directing a focused beam downward.

The Ole Lighting Onna Pendant answers that brief directly. Designed by Nacho Timón, the shade is constructed from handbraided cord made from recycled plastic bottles — 68 metres of it per shade — interwoven across a rigid metal wireframe in a pattern described by the designer as organised chaos: a fractal geometry that extends across the metal structure, generating volume on each face. The result is a shade that is genuinely sculptural even when the light is off, and atmospherically generous when it is on.

The Onna is available in two sizes — Small and Large — and in a wide range of cord colours, making it adaptable across residential and commercial interiors from the boldly expressive to the quietly considered. The recycled-cord construction also gives specifiers a credible sustainability story without any aesthetic compromise.

The pendant is supplied with a suspension cord and ceiling canopy. A single E27 lamp is required but not included — an E27 LED is recommended. There is no integrated driver or transformer; lamp selection is straightforward and handled separately. No specific IP rating applies, making this suitable for dry interior zones.
