Lucide Magius Pendant Light

Choosing a pendant that genuinely contributes to the atmosphere of a room — rather than just hanging there — is harder than it looks. The wrong shade material can make a space feel cold or flat, and the wrong scale can throw the whole room off balance.

For ambient pendant lighting, the shade construction is everything. A semi-translucent material that allows light to pass through creates a warm glow rather than harsh directionality. The Magius achieves this through a drum shade built from tightly arranged vertical wood or bamboo-like slats — the light filters between them, softening and diffusing as it goes. To take full advantage of this mood-setting quality, connecting the fitting to a dimmer is strongly recommended — a dimmer allows you to dial back the brightness and let the warmth of the light take centre stage.

The Lucide Magius is a pendant ceiling light designed for interior ambient illumination. Lucide is a Belgian lighting brand with a strong track record in design-led residential and hospitality specification. The Magius sits at the intersection of two enduring interior trends — natural materials and contemporary Scandinavian restraint — without feeling trend-dependent. Its IP20 rating confirms it is suited to standard dry interior environments. The warm, light-brown natural tones of the shade are complemented by matte black hardware throughout: canopy, rim, and suspension cord.

The large cylindrical drum shade creates a bold but grounded presence. The textured vertical slat construction gives the shade a linear, craft-quality character that works equally well as a statement piece above a dining table, in a living room corner, or as part of a layered lighting scheme alongside floor lamps and houseplants — yes, it genuinely earns its place in a Monstera moment. Height can be adjusted before mounting, giving you flexibility during installation.

The Magius is rated IP20 and is intended for dry interior use only. It is dimmer-compatible, which is highly recommended to make the most of its ambient lighting qualities. Please confirm lamp type and wattage requirements before ordering — lamps are not confirmed as included. The fitting connects to a standard ceiling electrical box via the circular black canopy.
