Lodes Random Solo Pendant

Designing a multi-pendant composition without a clear plan is one of the most common causes of lighting regret. Too many fittings fighting for attention, wrong scale, mismatched colour temperature — the result rarely matches the vision on the mood board.

For sphere pendants used in grouped or layered compositions, two things matter most: colour temperature consistency and finish coordination. Colour temperature is simply how warm or cool the light appears — 2700K is a soft, intimate warmth; 3000K is slightly crisper and better suited to contemporary or kitchen settings. Getting these aligned across a space makes the difference between atmosphere and chaos.

The Lodes Random Solo is a single spherical glass pendant designed by Chia-Ying Lee in 2020, born from the original Random cluster family. Where the original Random kept its spheres grouped, the Solo liberates each form individually — a perfectly proportioned glass globe suspended from a near-invisible wire, creating the impression of a light bubble floating in space. With a CRI of 90 (meaning colours beneath it appear natural and true), an IP20 rating suitable for dry interior spaces, and available in either 2700K or 3000K, it performs as well as it looks.

The Random Solo is available in four finishes: Clear, Frosted White, Glossy Bronze, and Glossy Smoke — each reading very differently in space. Clear maximises the floating-orb effect; Frosted White softens and diffuses the glow; Glossy Bronze and Glossy Smoke add material warmth or drama. Six sphere sizes are available across the broader Random family, offering genuine freedom in composing individual pendants or loose, joyful clusters.

The Random Solo carries an IP20 rating, meaning it is suitable for dry interior rooms — living rooms, dining spaces, bedrooms, and commercial interiors — but not bathrooms or covered outdoor areas. Please note that the canopy is sold separately and must be specified alongside the pendant.
