This type of pendant works through layering: an outer perforated shell shapes the atmosphere by casting patterned light onto surrounding walls and ceilings, while an inner diffuser manages the raw output from the lamp itself. The result is a fitting that performs two roles simultaneously — ambient illumination and decorative projection — without glare. The lamp source is E27 (a standard screw-cap fitting), which gives you flexibility over bulb type, colour temperature, and wattage; lamps are not included and are selected separately to suit the space.
The Lodes Kelly Sphere Pendant is designed by Andrea Tosetto (2015) and produced in Italy by Lodes. The metal shell is formed into a full sphere: a solid upper dome transitions into an intricate laser-cut lattice in the lower section, with a non-repeating organic pattern that reads as sculptural even when unlit. An internal semi-transparent milk-white glass diffuser sits within the shell to conceal the light source and soften its output. The fitting is suspended by three discreet steel cables that keep the sphere balanced and level. IP40 rated, it is suitable for interior dry spaces.
The Kelly Sphere is currently available in a Bronze finish — a warm, matte coppery-brown metallic tone that reinforces the fitting's weight and presence. The sphere is offered in three sizes (40, 50, and 80 cm diameter), making it scalable from a focused dining table moment to a dominant living room centrepiece. Note that only the Bronze finish option is currently stocked; contact us to discuss alternative finish availability.
The fitting accepts E27 lamps (not included). Three sizes are available — 40 cm, 50 cm, and 80 cm — so ceiling height, table scale, and desired shadow throw should all be considered before specifying. The IP40 rating confirms suitability for standard interior dry environments; it is not suitable for bathrooms or covered outdoor areas. The three-cable suspension keeps the unit level without adjustment effort during install, though ceiling rose compatibility with your electrical box should be confirmed at ordering stage.
