Outdoor lighting control can fall apart at the accessories stage. Running cables to a motion detector means trenching, conduit, and compromise on placement — and if the position is wrong, the detection zone is wrong. It is a frustrating problem that often gets solved too late in a project.

For garden lighting systems, a PIR (passive infrared) motion detector works by sensing body heat moving through its field of view. The critical variable is placement: too close to a heat source or in the wrong position and you get false triggers; too far from the path and you get nothing. The In-Lite SMART MOVE is a fully wireless, solar-powered motion detector designed specifically for use with In-Lite SMART HUB transformers. It charges via an integrated solar panel and stores energy internally, so no external power source or cable run is required. Its built-in ambient light sensor means it only activates after dark — no false daytime triggers. Detection range is guaranteed up to 10 metres, and up to 16 units can operate simultaneously in a single garden via mesh connectivity, forming a closed, reliable network across larger outdoor spaces.

The SMART MOVE has a compact, square housing with soft rounded edges and a uniform matte black finish — unobtrusive on walls, fences, or posts. A hemispherical PIR dome sits centrally on the face, flanked by secondary sensor apertures. There are no visible cable ports, keeping the installation clean wherever it is mounted. The unit is managed via the in-lite app, available for iOS and Android.

Because SMART MOVE communicates wirelessly via mesh network, it can be positioned tens of metres from the SMART HUB transformer without any direct cable connection. Compatibility is specific to SMART HUB-150 and the in-lite ecosystem — confirm your transformer model before specifying to ensure seamless integration.
