Getting directional exterior wall lighting right — particularly on a home, garage, or outbuilding — takes more thought than it might first appear.

For mains-connected outdoor wall lights, the priorities are weatherproofing, light quality, and control over beam direction. IP ratings measure a fixture's resistance to dust and moisture — IP55 means it is protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making it suitable for exposed facade positions in Mallorca's climate. CRI, or Colour Rendering Index, measures how accurately a light source renders colours compared to natural daylight; a CRI of 92 is considered excellent, ensuring stonework, render, and planting read as they should after dark.

The In-Lite Ace Up-Down is a mains-powered (100–230V) outdoor wall luminaire from the Dutch brand In-Lite's Ace range. It delivers a focused directional beam both upward and downward simultaneously, making it well suited to illuminating building facades, canopies, garage elevations, and garden walls. With a CRI of 92 and IP55 protection, it performs reliably in exposed positions whilst rendering materials and textures with accuracy.

Designed with a compact, square block-like profile and a fine-textured matte-metallic finish, the Ace Up-Down takes an architectural, no-fuss approach — clean geometry, no visible fasteners on the front face, and a concealed light source that eliminates direct glare. It is available in four colour options: Dark Grey, White, Rosé Silver, and Corten.

This fixture connects directly to the mains supply (100–230V) and is not compatible with the in-lite HUB or SMART HUB transformer systems — it operates independently of In-Lite's low-voltage landscape lighting ecosystem. The light source is recessed deep within the body to prevent glare, and beam width can be adjusted using the separately available SHUTTER 2 accessory. Professional installation by a qualified electrician is recommended. An extension cord may be used where direct wiring to the mains is not immediately accessible.
