Elstead Tournai Outdoor Wall Lantern

Choosing exterior wall lighting in Mallorca means balancing architectural character with weather resilience — and getting that balance wrong is costly. A fitting that looks the part but lacks adequate weatherproofing won't last a season, while something purely functional can undermine a carefully considered façade.

For outdoor wall lighting, IP rating is one of the first things to confirm. IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and splashing water from any direction — suitable for covered or semi-exposed wall positions such as porches, entrance lobbies, and sheltered terraces. It is not rated for fully exposed or coastal spray zones, so placement matters.

The Elstead Tournai Outdoor Wall Lantern is a classically styled exterior fitting designed to serve as both a light source and an architectural focal point. Manufactured by Elstead Lighting, a well-established UK brand with a long track record in specification-grade decorative lighting, the Tournai is built around a traditional hexagonal lantern body suspended between a pair of elaborately scrolled support arms. Its IP44 rating makes it a dependable choice for sheltered exterior positions on villas, townhouses, and estate entrances.

The lantern housing features clear seeded glass panels set within an ornate metal frame finished in a dark, weathered bronze with subtle aged highlights — giving it a depth and authenticity that suits classical European and Mediterranean architecture. The tiered cap, decorative finial, and leaf-motif scrollwork on the support arms all contribute to its distinctive estate character. The vertical wall-mounting plate includes a beaded decorative border that integrates cleanly against rendered or stone surfaces.

Inside the lantern, a central cluster is designed to accept candelabra-style bulbs — lamp type and quantity should be confirmed from the product specification sheet, as these are not included. Driver or transformer requirements will depend on the lamp type selected; confirm compatibility before installation. The IP44 rating applies to the fitting itself; ensure all wiring connections and back-box installations are made to the appropriate standard for outdoor use.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we support exterior lighting specifications from initial brief through to on-site delivery — helping you match the right product to the right position, at the right price. The Tournai is the kind of fitting that rewards careful placement: pair it with a considered lamp choice and it will anchor an entrance or courtyard façade for years to come.
