Elstead Olivia Chandelier

Choosing a statement chandelier for a high-ceilinged sala or an intimate dining room involves more than aesthetics — ceiling height, mounting flexibility, and shade compatibility all need to be resolved before installation day. Getting that wrong is an expensive and time-consuming correction.

For decorative chandeliers, two practical questions matter most: how it hangs, and whether the design can adapt to the space. Chain-hung fittings suit grander ceiling heights, while semi-flush mounting is often needed in rooms where headroom is tighter. Glass shade compatibility is a separate decision that affects light quality and the overall mood of the space.

The Elstead Olivia Chandelier addresses both directly. Designed and manufactured by Elstead Lighting at their factory in Alton, Hampshire, this eight-light chandelier is completely handmade and hand finished. Its standout feature is the flush-convert system — a built-in mechanism that allows straightforward adaptation from chain suspension to semi-flush mounting without additional hardware. The Olivia is also designed to accept glass shades as an optional addition, giving specifiers and homeowners the choice to soften or define the light output as the scheme requires.

Visually, the Olivia is defined by its intricate flowing metalwork: eight curved arms form graceful, overlapping double-loop scrolls, each supporting a candle-style lamp holder. A central column of bundled metal rods adds structural interest, and delicate leaf ornaments accent the outer curves of the scrollwork. The chandelier is available in Ivory/Gold or Black/Gold finishes, each with the hand-applied depth and aged patina that distinguishes a genuinely handmade fitting from a mass-produced alternative.

The Olivia carries an IP20 rating, making it suitable for open living and dining spaces away from moisture zones. Lamps are not included; candle-style lamp holders accept standard E14 candelabra bases. Suspension height is adjustable via the linked chain during installation. A two-year manufacturer's warranty applies.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we work through specification decisions like these before they become site problems — matching the right fitting to ceiling height, room scale, and control requirements from the outset. The Olivia is a strong example of a product that earns its place in a curated scheme: British-made, technically flexible, and honest about what it does.
