IP20 rated for dry interior spaces

Choosing a decorative pendant that reads well at ceiling height, layers light effectively, and fits the install constraints of your space is harder than it looks. Get the mounting wrong and you lose both the aesthetic and the function — before a single bulb is switched on.

For pendants like this, two things matter most: how light is distributed through the shade and diffuser, and whether the fixture can adapt to your ceiling height. Some spaces suit a dropped pendant; others need the shade to sit closer to the ceiling. Flexibility in mounting removes that guesswork at installation stage.

The Elstead Lemuria Pendant Light, designed by Karyl Pierce Paxton, solves both. A repeating Grecian key motif is cut into an open-work metal band finished in a richly textured Distressed Gold — the kind of hand-applied, aged quality that reads as considered rather than decorative-for-its-own-sake. An ivory white linen inner shade diffuses light softly through the sides, while a flat opal diffuser at the base distributes warmth downward. Two internal lamp positions provide layered, multi-directional illumination through both surfaces. Rated IP20, it is designed for interior use.

The Lemuria sits comfortably in dining rooms, hallways, and bedroom spaces where a decorative centrepiece needs to do more than look good. The duo-mount system means the same fitting can be suspended via adjustable height rods or installed as a semi-flush ceiling fitting — a genuinely useful option when ceiling heights vary across a project.

The Lemuria is designed for retrofit LED bulbs, giving you control over colour temperature and lumen output. No integrated LED module means lamp replacement is straightforward. The fixture carries an IP20 rating, confirming suitability for dry interior zones. Elstead offers a 2-year product warranty as standard.

FAQs

Can the Lemuria be installed as a semi-flush fitting as well as a pendant?

Yes. The duo-mount design means it comes with adjustable height rods for pendant installation but can also be fitted as a semi-flush ceiling light — useful when ceiling height is limited or a more compact profile is preferred.

What type of bulbs does the Lemuria take?

The Lemuria is designed for retrofit LED bulbs. It does not have an integrated LED module, which means you choose the lamp — giving you control over brightness, colour temperature (warm white, neutral, etc.), and the ability to replace bulbs easily in future.

Are lamps included with the Lemuria pendant?

No, lamps are not included. This is standard for fittings designed around retrofit LED bulbs. We can advise on the right lamp type and colour temperature to suit your space.

Is the Lemuria suitable for bathroom use?

No. The Lemuria carries an IP20 rating, which means it is designed for dry interior environments only. It should not be installed in bathrooms, wet rooms, or any zone where moisture is present.

Does the Lemuria come with a dimmer or is it dimmable?

No dimmer is included. Whether the fitting is dimmable depends on the LED bulbs you choose and the dimmer switch on your circuit. We recommend selecting dimmable LED bulbs and a compatible leading-edge or trailing-edge dimmer — we can help you match these correctly.
