Bathroom lighting decisions are often made on aesthetics alone — then the reality of zone compliance, glare over a mirror, and awkward mounting positions sets in. Choosing a fitting that handles all three without compromise is rarer than it should be.

In a bathroom context, IP rating is the non-negotiable: IP44 means the fitting is protected against water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for zones outside the immediate shower or bath area — including above and alongside vanity mirrors. Beyond compliance, diffused light from a quality glass shade prevents harsh reflections that work against you when it matters most.

The Elstead Huguenot Lake Bathroom Wall Light is a single-light hardwired wall sconce from Elstead's Huguenot Lake bath lighting collection. IP44 rated and finished to a high standard, it features a frosted opal etched glass shade that diffuses light softly, reducing glare at the mirror. The circular stepped backplate, decorative spherical arm joint, and hand-spun metal fitter cup give it a transitional character — rooted in early Colonial geometry but polished enough for a contemporary bathroom scheme. CRI 80 ensures colours read faithfully under its light.

The design incorporates a consistent circular motif throughout — from the concentric tiered backplate to the spherical ball joint at the arm — creating a cohesive, considered look that works equally well as a solo vanity light or paired either side of a mirror. It is available in Polished Chrome or Burnished Brass, allowing it to coordinate with a wide range of tapware and hardware finishes. The fixture can be mounted with the glass shade facing upward or downward, giving you meaningful flexibility on final positioning.

Dimensions are H: 248mm, W: 133mm, Projection: 152mm. The fitting is hardwired for wall installation. Lamp type and inclusion should be confirmed at point of order; please contact us if you need guidance on a compatible bulb. Elstead offers a general 2-year guarantee on this product.

FAQs

Is this fitting suitable for use in a bathroom?

Yes. The Huguenot Lake wall light carries an IP44 rating, meaning it is protected against water splashes from any direction. This makes it suitable for bathroom zones outside the immediate shower or bath enclosure — including above and alongside vanity mirrors. If you are unsure which zone applies to your installation, we can advise.

Can the shade face upward or downward?

Yes — the fixture is designed to be mounted with the glass shade in either the up or the down position. This gives you flexibility depending on your ceiling height, mirror placement, and the direction of light you prefer.

What finishes are available?

The Huguenot Lake bathroom wall light is available in two finishes: Polished Chrome and Burnished Brass. Both are suitable for bathroom environments and coordinate well with common tapware and hardware finishes.

Is a lamp included, and what type does it take?

Lamp inclusion is not confirmed in the product data. Please contact us before ordering and we will confirm the lamp type required and whether one is included, so you are not left without a bulb on installation day.

What are the dimensions and how much space does it need on the wall?

The fitting measures H: 248mm, W: 133mm, with a wall projection of 152mm. Bear the projection in mind if you are mounting it in a narrow recess or close to a mirror edge — 152mm is roughly the depth of a large paperback book extending from the wall.
