Elstead Halleron Outdoor Wall Lantern

Choosing an exterior wall lantern that holds its own architecturally — without becoming a maintenance headache — is harder than it looks. The wrong finish fades, the wrong IP rating lets moisture in, and a poorly considered scale reads either lost or overbearing against the wall. Getting this right from the start saves costly replacements and redesigns.

For outdoor wall lighting, two details matter most: weatherproofing and visual weight. IP44 is the relevant standard here — it means the fitting is protected against water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, sheltered entryways, and façades with overhead protection. Scale matters too; lanterns like this read very differently at small versus medium size, so considering the wall height and surrounding architecture before specifying is always time well spent.

The Elstead Halleron Outdoor Wall Lantern answers both of those questions with a clear specification. Rated IP44 and finished in a durable Burnished Bronze, it is built for British and European coastal climates — including Mallorca's salt-air and sun exposure. The Halleron collection draws from Victorian-era design: a spherical seeded-glass globe encased in a slim metal cage with vertical ribs and a decorative mid-band, mounted on a scrolled shepherd's crook arm from an oval backplate. Three internal candelabra-style lamp sockets give the cluster real presence at night.

The seeded glass — with its characteristic small trapped air bubbles — partially diffuses the light from the internal lamps, softening glare while preserving the warmth of the bulb glow. Pointed finials at top and bottom of the globe housing add a classical finishing detail. The Halleron is available in Small and Medium sizes, allowing the lantern to be matched proportionally to the architecture it accompanies.

The fitting accepts three candelabra-style lamps (E14 base), which are not included. Elstead backs this range with a three-year warranty. As a lamped fitting, bulb choice influences both the colour temperature and the character of the light — warm filament-style LEDs are the natural pairing for a Victorian-inspired lantern like this, and we are happy to advise on compatible options.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we work with the Elstead range precisely because the specifications are honest and the build quality justifies the investment. Selecting the right size for your wall height, pairing it with the right lamp, and understanding what IP44 does and does not cover are exactly the kinds of decisions we help with — so your project moves forward without surprises.
