Elstead Emery Pendant Light

Choosing a pendant for a kitchen island or dining table sounds straightforward — until you're standing in the room wondering whether the height feels right, the light is too harsh, or the finish clashes with everything else. These are the decisions that matter, and they're worth getting right before anything goes on the ceiling.

For pendants positioned directly over a surface where people eat, work, or gather, the quality of light matters as much as the look. A bare bulb or clear glass shade can create glare at eye level. A diffuser — a textured or prismatic lens that scatters light evenly — softens the output and spreads it across the surface below, reducing hotspots and making the space feel more considered.

The Elstead Emery Pendant Light is a single medium pendant from the Emery family, designed around a classic Americana aesthetic. Elstead is a well-established UK lighting brand with a long track record in specification and retail. The Emery features a flared bell-shaped metal shade fitted with a prismatic glass diffuser at the base, delivering soft, even downward illumination suited to kitchen islands and dining tables. The shade is suspended from a tiered ceiling canopy via a rigid downrod and decorative yoke assembly — functional hardware details that also serve as design highlights.

The design draws on industrial Americana references: a polished, reflective form with visible mechanical details including a knurled yoke and central finial securing the diffuser. It is available in three finishes — Weathered Brass, Palladian Bronze, and Imperial Silver — each offering a distinct character, from warm patina to cool polish.

The Emery accepts a single E27 lamp (Edison screw, the standard large bayonet-style cap) — not included, maximum 60W. It is compatible with dimmable lamps, so pairing it with a suitable dimmable LED E27 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch will give you full ambience control. Installation height is adjustable using the supplied rods (two at 300mm and two at 150mm), giving flexibility to suit ceiling heights and table clearance. No separate driver is required. Intended for interior use only — no IP rating is stated, so this fitting is not suitable for bathrooms or outdoor locations.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we help you move from a finish you like to a complete specification that works — the right lamp type, the right dimmer, the right drop height for your ceiling. The Emery is a strong, value-considered choice for anyone who wants period character without sacrificing practical performance. Whether you're specifying a single island pendant or a run of them across a kitchen, we can help you get the details right first time.
