Choosing a decorative pendant for a bathroom or wet-adjacent space is one of those decisions where getting the IP rating wrong is a costly mistake. Too low a rating and you're outside building regulations; too high and your options shrink fast. Crystal Skye sits precisely at IP44 — the standard required for Zone 2 bathroom use — so it earns its place in demanding environments without compromise.

IP ratings define how well a fitting is protected against solid particles and water ingress. IP44 means the fixture is shielded against objects larger than 1mm and splashing water from any direction — sufficient for bathroom ceilings and humid spaces where standard pendants simply cannot go. The fact that Crystal Skye is fully LED means it also delivers the energy efficiency and long lamp life that enclosed fittings demand.

The Elstead Crystal Skye Pendant is a drum-shaped decorative chandelier designed to do exactly what great crystal lighting should: scatter light into the room in a hundred different directions. Triangular crystal prisms line the outer perimeter of the chrome drum frame, while rounded crystals enclose the underside — creating two distinct refractive textures that together produce a layered, shifting ambience across walls and ceilings.

Suspended on three aircraft-style tension cables from a polished chrome ceiling canopy, the fixture holds its horizontal level cleanly. Every metal component carries a high-shine polished chrome finish, and the dense crystal arrangement delivers a genuinely luxurious visual weight. As this product has no listed variant options, what you see is a definitive, resolved design.

Crystal Skye is fully LED integrated, removing the guesswork of lamp sourcing for an enclosed crystal fitting. The IP44 rating is factory-confirmed, making it a confident specification for bathroom ceilings and humid residential environments. Elstead products carry a warranty of 2 to 20 years depending on the model — always worth confirming at point of order for peace of mind on longer projects.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we work with specification-led ranges like Crystal Skye precisely because the technical groundwork has already been done — IP rating confirmed, LED integrated, chrome finish resolved. Our role is to make sure it lands in the right project, at the right point in the programme, with lead times coordinated so installation day isn't a surprise. That's what value-engineered specification looks like in practice.

FAQs

Is the Crystal Skye pendant safe to use in a bathroom?

Yes. It carries an IP44 rating, which means it is protected against splashing water from any direction. This qualifies it for Zone 2 use — the area beyond 60cm from a bath or shower — making it a legitimate and compliant choice for bathroom ceilings.

Does the Crystal Skye pendant come with a lamp or bulb?

Crystal Skye is fully LED, meaning the light source is integrated into the fitting. There is no separate lamp to source or replace — a practical advantage for an enclosed crystal drum fitting where bulb access would otherwise be awkward.

What finish and suspension style does this pendant use?

All metal components are finished in high-shine polished chrome. The fitting suspends from a matching chrome ceiling canopy via three thin aircraft-style tension cables, which keep the drum level and give a clean, minimal connection point at the ceiling.

What warranty does the Crystal Skye pendant carry?

Elstead products carry a warranty of between 2 and 20 years, depending on the specific model within the range. We recommend confirming the applicable warranty period at the point of order, particularly for larger or longer-lead projects.

Can I use the Crystal Skye pendant outside the bathroom?

Absolutely. IP44 is a minimum threshold for bathroom use, but it also makes the fitting suitable for any standard interior room. The crystal and chrome aesthetic works well in living spaces, dining areas, and hallways where a statement pendant is called for.
