Elstead Crystal Skye Decorative Wall Light

Choosing a decorative wall light involves more than aesthetics. Get the IP rating wrong, and a beautifully specified fixture ends up in the wrong room — or worse, a returns pile. It's one of those specification details that can quietly derail a project.

For wall lights placed near bathrooms, en-suites, or any splash-prone zone, the IP rating is the first thing to confirm. IP44 means the fixture is protected against solid objects over 1mm and water splashing from any direction — in plain terms, it's suitable for bathroom zones where direct water contact isn't expected, such as Zone 2 (areas within 60cm of a shower or bath). That opens up a wider range of placement options without compromising safety.

The Elstead Crystal Skye Decorative Wall Light is a wall-mounted sconce that brings an architectural, Art Deco-inspired sensibility to interior spaces. Produced by Elstead, one of the UK's most established decorative lighting companies, the Crystal Skye range combines vertically arranged prismatic glass rods with a polished metallic frame to create a fixture that refracts light softly across its surroundings. Its IP44 rating makes it suitable for bathroom and wet-area adjacent placement as well as general interior use.

The design is defined by its column of faceted, semi-cylindrical glass prisms — held in place by integrated metal clips within upper and lower horizontal brackets — creating a textured surface that scatters light in multiple directions. The transparent glass and polished silver metal produce a warm, luminous glow when lit, with a look that sits comfortably in both contemporary and transitional interiors.

As a decorative wall sconce, installation involves direct wall mounting with the flat back of the frame flush to the surface. Elstead products in this category typically require a separately sourced compatible lamp; confirm lamp type and wattage via the product datasheet or contact Lightsource Mallorca for specification support. Elstead offers a product warranty of 2 to 20 years depending on the model — worth confirming at point of specification for long-term project confidence.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we work with brands like Elstead precisely because their products are designed with specification reality in mind — clear IP ratings, reliable construction, and a breadth of range that supports project-wide coordination. Whether you're fitting out a single bathroom or specifying across a full residential development, we can help confirm compatibility, check lead times, and make sure the right product reaches the right room on schedule.
