Elstead Cotswold Lane Outdoor Pedestal Lantern

Choosing the wrong exterior lantern is a costly mistake — not just aesthetically, but practically. A fitting that looks perfect in a catalogue can feel out of scale on a gate post, or fail prematurely because its weather protection wasn't up to the job. Getting the specification right from the start saves time, money, and disappointment.

For traditional exterior settings, the key decisions are weatherproofing rating, mounting method, lamp compatibility, and whether the form holds its own in daylight as much as at night. IP44 is the standard minimum for most exposed outdoor positions — it means the fitting is protected against water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for open driveways, gate piers, and entrance columns.

The Elstead Cotswold Lane Outdoor Pedestal Lantern is designed precisely for these applications. Part of Elstead's Cotswold Lane collection — a range inspired by antique gas lanterns — it brings a formal, structured elegance to exterior entrances. The tapered lantern body with its multi-tiered pagoda-style cap, fluted pedestal base, and square surface-mount plate sits confidently on gate posts, pillars, or flat piers. IP44 rated, it is suitable for exposed outdoor use in most residential exterior locations.

The design is defined by its clear bevelled glass panes, framed by vertical metal ribs and topped with architectural moulding details integrated into the metalwork — the hallmark detail of the Cotswold Lane collection. A black-finished solid metal frame gives it a crisp, traditional silhouette that reads well both day and night. Three internal candelabra-style lamp holders distribute light evenly through the clear glass, casting warm, refractive ambience across surrounding surfaces.

The fitting mounts via a square base plate with pre-drilled fixing holes for straightforward surface installation onto posts or piers. It accommodates three candelabra (SES/E14) lamp positions — lamps are not included and should be selected to suit your preferred output and colour temperature. Elstead backs this product with a 3-year warranty.
