Elstead Chartwell Chandelier

One of the quieter risks when specifying a chandelier is committing to a mounting configuration before the ceiling void or room height is confirmed. Getting that wrong mid-project can mean reordering, delays, and awkward conversations with your client or site manager.

For traditional and period-influenced interiors, the chandelier has to earn its place visually — but it also needs to be practical. Convertibility between chain-hung and semi-flush mounting matters when ceiling heights are still being confirmed or the brief shifts late in the design process. It removes a common source of project risk without compromising the aesthetic.

The Elstead Chartwell Chandelier is a five-light fitting designed for ceiling-mounted interior ambient lighting. Made in England by Elstead — a UK manufacturer with a long track record in traditional and period lighting — the Chartwell range is built around hand-worked wire-bound arms and ivory candle tubes that give the design a genuinely artisan quality. The dark-finished metalwork, scrolled arm details, and flame-tip candelabra lamps work together to create a high-contrast, timeless appearance suited to classic and transitional interiors.

The design's appeal comes from the balance of restrained ornamentation and craft detailing: wire binding rather than cast decoration, delicate scroll accents under each arm, and ivory candle sleeves that soften the contrast between bulb and frame. Where additional decorative interest is needed, the range is also compatible with GS81 glass shades on wall and ceiling models within the Chartwell family.

The Chartwell Chandelier carries an IP20 rating, making it suitable for dry interior spaces — bedrooms, dining rooms, entrance halls, and living rooms. It is not rated for bathroom use. Lamp type is candelabra flame-tip, consistent with the traditional styling. Lamps are not included; the chain-to-semi-flush conversion is a built-in design feature requiring no additional components. For dimming, compatibility will depend on the lamp and dimmer chosen — we're happy to advise on that at specification stage.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we work with ranges like the Chartwell precisely because they solve real specification problems — convertible mounting, proven construction, and a design language that holds up across a wide range of traditional and transitional projects. We can help you confirm lamp compatibility, coordinate lead times, and make sure what arrives on site matches what was agreed at design stage.
