Elstead Bayview Outdoor Pedestal Lantern

Choosing the wrong exterior lantern is easier than it sounds — a finish that corrodes, a rating that doesn't suit the location, or a style that fights the architecture rather than completing it. For gate posts, entrance paths, and low boundary walls, the detail matters more than people expect.

For outdoor pedestal fittings, two things tend to cause the most regret: insufficient weather protection and a design that looks thin or insubstantial in situ. IP44 is the minimum recommended rating for sheltered exterior positions — it protects against water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for covered entrances, recessed gate posts, and comparable locations. Aluminium construction adds corrosion resistance without the weight of cast iron, which matters in coastal climates.

The Elstead Bayview Outdoor Pedestal Lantern answers both concerns directly. Built from aluminium with a textured matte black finish, it carries a four-sided tapered housing glazed with clear bevelled glass panels that refract and distribute light through all faces. A multi-tiered pagoda-style roof with a decorative ball finial gives it genuine architectural presence — the kind of Georgian-inspired silhouette that reads well against rendered walls, stone pillars, and formal landscaping alike. The flat-bottomed flange base mounts directly onto a flat horizontal surface, keeping installation straightforward.

The Bayview's classical detailing is balanced by the restraint of the matte black finish, giving it a transitional quality that suits both period properties and contemporary exteriors with traditional cues. The clear bevelled glass maximises light output while adding a refined refractive quality to the warmth produced by the internal lamp. No variants are listed at this time — the specification is as shown.

The lamp is not included and the fitting accepts a single centrally positioned lamp holder. Confirm your preferred lamp type — E27 Edison screw is typical for this category — and ensure your chosen source is appropriate for enclosed outdoor fittings. The IP44 rating makes this suitable for sheltered outdoor positions; avoid fully exposed installations where IP65 or above would be required. Always verify zone suitability with your installer before confirming placement.
