The A-Emotional Light Gea Pendant is a ceiling-suspended shade designed by Arturo Ãlvarez, part of the Gea collection — a range named after the primordial goddess of the earth. The barrel silhouette curves gently outward at the centre, with scalloped top and bottom edges that follow the rhythm of the ribbing. Semi-translucent mesh panels between the raised ribs allow light to travel through the structure, producing a warm, evenly distributed glow with minimal direct glare. The collection won a Good Design Award in 2007 — a considered recognition of the design's balance between sculpture and function.
The design draws on organic, figure-like forms, described by the designer as stylised female figures wrapped in a ribbed veil — which explains the distinctive high-texture surface that reads differently in natural light versus artificial light.
