FAQs

What IP rating does the Signoret Large Chandelier carry, and where can it be installed?

The Signoret is rated IP20, which means it is suitable for dry interior spaces only. It is not appropriate for bathrooms, outdoor areas, or any environment exposed to moisture.

Can the drop height be adjusted to suit my ceiling height?

The fixture ships with a fixed downrod, but custom height options are available. Contact the Lightsource Studio sales team with your ceiling height and intended use — we can advise on the right drop for your space.

How do the shades direct light — is this an ambient or task-oriented fixture?

The six conical shades face downward and have an opaque matte black exterior. This focuses light downward toward surfaces beneath each head rather than diffusing it around the room — making it well-suited to dining tables or defined seating areas.

What is the lost-wax casting process mentioned for Signoret fixtures?

Each Signoret piece is hand-carved in wax; the wax is then melted away and replaced by metal in a casting process. This technique produces fine surface detail and slight variation between pieces — giving each fixture the quality and character of a handmade object.

How do I size the Signoret correctly for my dining table?

Visual Comfort recommends leaving 30–36 inches (approximately 75–90cm) between the bottom of the fixture and the table surface. The fixture width should be at least 6 inches narrower than the table. For round tables, aim for a fixture diameter between half and three-quarters of the table's diameter.
