Visual Comfort Barbara Barry Floral Hoop Pendant

Choosing a statement pendant for a dining room, living area, or entrance hall is one of those decisions that looks straightforward on a mood board — until you realise the fixture needs to work spatially, aesthetically, and technically all at once. The wrong scale, the wrong light quality, or an ungainly canopy can undo an otherwise considered interior scheme.

For decorative pendants of this nature, the details that matter most are light quality and diffusion — how the fitting softens or distributes light across a room — and whether the design holds up at eye level, not just in a catalogue photograph. Frosted or translucent shades diffuse light from within, wrapping illumination around the shade material and eliminating the harsh glare of an exposed source.

The Visual Comfort Barbara Barry Floral Hoop Pendant is a decorative chandelier that resolves exactly this tension. Designed by Barbara Barry for Visual Comfort — one of the United States' most respected specification-grade decorative lighting brands — the fitting combines a clean geometric hoop in metal with a series of layered, organic floral shades in frosted translucent material. Light sources sit within each shade, illuminating the petal forms from the inside and creating a warm, ambient glow rather than direct downlight. Three slender tension cables suspend the hoop from a coordinating ceiling canopy, giving the fixture a poised, floating quality in the room. IP22 rated, this pendant is suitable for dry interior locations including living rooms, dining areas, and bedrooms away from moisture zones.

The design sits at the intersection of botanical and geometric — the structured gold or silver hoop providing visual order while the floral shades introduce organic softness. It reads as a considered object in the room rather than a purely functional fitting. Available in Soft Lacquered Brass or Soft Silver, each finish shifts the overall character meaningfully: brass reads warmer and more classical, silver cooler and more contemporary.

As a metal pendant with an IP22 rating, this fixture is intended for interior dry zones only — not suitable for bathrooms or covered outdoor areas. Specific driver, lamp, and dimming compatibility details should be confirmed at point of specification; our team can advise on suitable control options and any additional components required for your installation.

At Lightsource Mallorca, our role is to make sure a fitting like this lands correctly in the real world — right scale, right position, right control setup — not just right on paper. We work with designers, architects, and self-builders across Mallorca to take the guesswork out of specification, from initial selection through to coordinated delivery and installation guidance.
