Getting both the ambient effect and the material presence right takes more than a good-looking fixture.

For a sconce to contribute meaningfully to a room's atmosphere, it needs to direct light in a way that feels considered. Uplighting bounces warmth off ceilings and walls, creating a soft ambient glow; downlighting adds a secondary layer at eye level or below. The Visual Comfort Divina Wall Light, designed by Barbara Barry, is built precisely around this principle. A slender square-profile arm extends from a circular wall canopy, suspending a shallow metal bowl within a three-pronged tripod frame. Inside the bowl sits a cylindrical diffuser in translucent stone with visible natural veining, directing light upward for indirect illumination. A secondary circular diffuser on the underside of the bowl adds a downward light path, completing the ambient effect. The fixture carries an IP22 rating, making it suited to interior use in locations protected from direct water contact.

The Divina's design contrasts industrial rigour with organic warmth — dark metal framing paired with soft, veined stone creates a high-contrast material palette that reads as architectural without being cold. The geometric composition brings together circular, linear, and triangular forms into a single cohesive object. The fitting is available in two finishes: Modern Iron and Soft Brass, allowing it to sit comfortably within both cooler, more restrained interiors and warmer, more layered schemes.

The Divina is intended for hardwired installation via the circular wall backplate to a standard wall junction box.
