The Stilnovo Buonanotte Table Lamp, designed by Giovanni Luigi Gorgoni, does exactly that. A spherical head houses a fixed inner diffuser and a pair of pivoting hemispherical outer shells. Rotate the shells to expose the bulb for reading, close them partially for atmosphere, or eclipse them fully when sleep takes priority. The truncated conical base keeps everything stable on a bedside table, desk, or shelf. IP20 rated, it is designed for dry interior use.

The Buonanotte has a distinctly Space Age character — glossy, geometric, and quietly theatrical. The contrast between the bright white interior diffuser and the bold exterior finish gives the lamp a strong visual presence whether the light is on or off. It is available in four finishes: Blue, White, Red, and Yellow, making it as much a styling decision as a lighting one.

No complex installation is required — this is a freestanding table lamp. Lamp type and wattage should be confirmed at point of specification to ensure the rotating mechanism performs correctly; an oversized source can affect the quality of the eclipse effect. IP20 confirms suitability for standard interior dry zones only.
