LZF Poppy Pendant Light

Choosing a pendant that works as both a light source and a room-defining object is rarely straightforward. Get it wrong and you end up with something that either disappears into the ceiling or overwhelms the space — neither contributing meaningfully to the atmosphere you had in mind.

For decorative pendants, the key decisions are form, scale, and the quality of light emitted. An open or slotted shade design distributes light laterally through its sides as well as downward through its base — creating layered ambience rather than a single focused pool. The LZF Poppy Pendant is a ceiling-hung decorative pendant designed by Burkhard Dämmer and produced by LZF, the Spanish studio celebrated for its mastery of flexible wood veneer. The Poppy takes an oblate spheroid form — a sphere gently flattened at the poles — and constructs it from a series of curved, vertical wood veneer slats arranged with deliberate, uniform gaps. These gaps allow light to radiate outward with greater luminosity than LZF's related Pod pendant, giving the Poppy its character: full-formed, glowing, and present. The fixture is suspended on three fine support cables and a central power cord, with installation height adjustable during fitting. It carries an IP20 rating, appropriate for standard interior dry spaces.

The Poppy is available in two sizes — small and medium — allowing it to be used as a solo statement piece or grouped in clusters with other LZF pendants for a dramatic, cloud-like composition. The ten available wood veneer finishes include Pale Rose, Sea Blue, Grey, Blue, Red, Orange, Yellow, Natural Beech, Natural Cherry, and Ivory White, ranging from earthy naturals to vivid saturated tones. Each finish interacts with internal light differently, so the same form can read as quiet and organic or bold and graphic depending on your selection.

The Poppy is rated IP20, confirming it is suitable for dry interior environments only — not for use in bathrooms or covered outdoor areas. Lamp and driver requirements should be confirmed at point of specification; LZF pendants typically accept a standard lamp format, but we recommend verifying the correct source and any dimming compatibility with us before ordering, particularly if the fitting is to be controlled on a dimming circuit.
