Elstead Malibu Flush Bathroom Ceiling Light

Choosing a ceiling light for a bathroom seems straightforward until you factor in IP ratings, ceiling height constraints, and whether the fitting will actually accept a dimmable lamp. Get any of those wrong and you're either replacing the fitting or rewiring the switch.

For bathroom ceiling lights, IP rating is the starting point. IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects over 1mm and splashing water from any direction — making it compliant for use in bathroom zones where splash exposure is a consideration. Beyond that, lamp compatibility and dimming support are the next decisions: this fitting uses E27 screw-cap sockets (a standard medium-base format) and is compatible with dimmable lamps, giving you flexibility when pairing with a dimmer switch.

The Elstead Malibu Flush Bathroom Ceiling Light is a two-lamp, E27 flush mount from Elstead's Malibu range. At 156mm high and 335mm in diameter, it suits rooms where ceiling height is limited but a considered, finished look is still the goal. The opal-etched glass bowl diffuser spreads light evenly across the room, softening glare from the internal lamps — a practical benefit in a bathroom where harsh direct light is rarely welcome.

The design pairs a wide bowl-shaped glass shade with a stepped polished metal frame and a matching decorative finial at the base — a detail that gives the fitting visual coherence from every angle. The recurring stepped motif bridges classic proportions with clean, modern lines. Available in Polished Chrome, Brushed Brass, and Polished Brass, so you can align the fitting finish with your broader hardware and tapware choices.

The fitting accepts two E27 lamps (not included) and is compatible with dimmable lamp types — confirm your chosen lamp's dimmer compatibility before specifying a trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmer switch. No driver or transformer is required. Elstead offers a general 2-year guarantee on this product.
