FAQs

What makes this a 'plaster-in' or trimless downlight?

Unlike standard downlights that sit within a visible trim ring, the Pixo is designed to be embedded into the ceiling and plastered over. The result is a completely flush aperture with no visible frame — the fixture becomes part of the ceiling surface itself.

What does a CRI of 97 mean in practice?

CRI stands for Colour Rendering Index, a measure of how accurately a light source reveals the true colours of objects and surfaces. A score of 97 out of 100 is exceptionally high — colours, materials, and finishes will appear as they would under natural daylight. This is particularly important in spaces where art, textiles, or interior finishes need to look their best.

Is the Pixo suitable for bathroom use?

No. The Pixo carries an IP20 rating, which means it is designed for dry interior environments only. IP ratings describe a product's resistance to solid particles and moisture — IP20 offers no moisture protection and must not be installed in bathrooms, wet rooms, or any area subject to water ingress.

Does the Pixo come with a driver or lamp?

Driver and lamp inclusion should be confirmed at the point of specification. Please contact Lightsource Mallorca before ordering to ensure you have the correct driver, compatible dimming method, and appropriate lamp for your project.

When during a build should the Pixo be installed?

Because it is a plaster-in fixture, the Pixo must be positioned and secured in the ceiling void before plastering takes place. Coordinate installation with your plasterer and electrician early in the build programme — retrofitting a trimless downlight after plastering is a significant undertaking.
