Client Description
The Waterman Restaurant, launched in June 2022 by Niall McKenna, provides a straightforward dining experience in Belfast's vibrant Cathedral Quarter. Aarron McNeice leads the culinary team, crafting a menu that highlights local, seasonal ingredients infused with European influences and flavours.
The Project
Lightsource Studio were approached by the client to provide decorative pendants for the Waterman Bistro and Tasting Room.
As the Bistro is in a prominent location in the heart of Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, it was paramount to the team at Lightsource Studio that simple, yet eye-catching, pendants were used to capture the interest of passersby.
Pendants were also required in the Tasting Room - a multi use event space with a vaulted ceiling and exposed services. The challenge here was to select a pendant with a strong enough output to illuminate the space for different uses.
The Lighting
The Oh! pendant from Linealight was selected as the feature pendant for the Waterman Bistro. Used in two different sizes to maximise the space available, these lights give off a subtle glow adding warmth to the open plan dining experience.
In the Tasting Room the Bell from Flos was used due to the high lumen output, wide beam angle and industrial look. The pendants fit in seamlessly with the exposed services and tall ceilings, adding a modern flair to the imposing space.
